CARIFESTA XV Barbados: A Celebration of Caribbean Culture and Excellence

This August, Barbados will become the cultural heartbeat of the Caribbean as CARIFESTA XV brings together some of the region's most exciting performers, thinkers, and creators. Under the theme Caribbean Roots – Global Excellence, the festival will showcase music, art, theatre, and dialogue that reflect the Caribbean's diversity and innovation.

Opening Ceremony – August 22

The festival kicks off on August 22 with a vibrant Opening Ceremony at Queen's Park, Bridgetown. Admission is free, inviting the entire community to celebrate. Highlights include the Parade of Nations, stilt walkers, aerialists, the Barbados Police Service Band, and an all-star cast of performers: Biggie Irie, Wesu Wallace, Casheda Dottin, Alison Hinds, Mahalia, Nikita, Adrian Clarke, and Mikey. It's a showcase of Caribbean artistry and cultural pride.

Caribbean to the World Super Concert – August 22

Later that evening, the action shifts to the Richard Stoute Amphitheatre in the National Botanical Gardens for the Caribbean to the World Super Concert. Some of the biggest names in Caribbean music will share the stage, including Machel Montano, Lil Rick, Mikey, Skinny Fabulous, RPB, Leadpipe & Saddis, Biggie Irie, Burning Flames, and many more. Admission is $50 BBD ($25 USD), offering an unforgettable night of energy and entertainment.

Big Talk Conversation – August 23

On August 23, CARIFESTA XV will host an important panel discussion, Big Talk Conversation, Nuff Action, at Golden Square Freedom Park, Bridgetown. This conversation, The Idea of Caribbean Civilization, will feature regional leaders and cultural voices, including The Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, The Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, The Hon. Dr. June Soomer, and Sir Hilary Beckles. Moderated by CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett, the session blends ideas and performance, including a special tribute to Mighty Sparrow.

Caribbean Jazz & World Beat Super Concert – August 26

Music lovers will gather again on August 26 at the Richard Stoute Amphitheatre for the Caribbean Jazz & World Beat Super Concert. The line-up features Jeremy Hector, Dominica's own Michele Henderson, Richard Payne, Sur Caribe, Myles Gittens & Ch'an, Ayoni, Jazz Gittens, Rocky Dawuni, and Kassav. Admission is $50 BBD ($25 USD) for an evening of global rhythms with a Caribbean soul.

Mansa Musa: The Prelude – August 28

On August 28, the National Performing Arts Centre will host Mansa Musa and the Trail of Lost Gold: The Prelude, an original musical by Chief Moomen. This epic production takes audiences through the ancient gold empires of West Africa. With a student matinee and an evening show, the performance blends history, music, and storytelling in a memorable cultural experience. Evening tickets are $100 BBD ($50 USD).
