CREOLE NATIONAL CONSULTATION
Legitimizing Creole: From Vernacular to Vehicle of Identity, Education, and Development!

Creole Heartbeat, in partnership with key national and regional stakeholders, is convening this Creole National Consultation as the first step in developing a comprehensive blueprint for the legitimization of the Creole language. This blueprint will serve as the foundation for positioning Dominica as the Creole Capital of the World — a nation where Creole is not only celebrated but also institutionalized as a vehicle of identity, education, governance, and cultural development.
The consultation recognizes that in order for Dominica to fully enter the heritage and cultural global market, it must first ground itself in the language that carries its history, values, and collective memory. Creole is more than a vernacular for pleasantries — it is the heartbeat of Dominican culture, the key to regional connectivity, and a powerful tool for economic advancement through cultural tourism, creative industries, and educational innovation.
